IPSWICH PARKS
Ipswich is proud of its wealth of splendid parks and open spaces giving access to more than 500 hectares of rich and varied landscapes. Many of the parks have an interesting history and were bequested to the town by wealthy merchants. Some of the historic parks such as Chantry, Christchurch and Holywells are of national importance whilst some of the smaller parks - Alexandra, Bourne, Gippeswyk are significant to the town and the story of its development.
Christchurch Park was opened to the public in 1895 and is now a town centre oasis of over 33 hectares - facilities include tennis courts and a large children's play area
Orwell Country Park on the edge of Ipswich opened to the public in 1995. It consists of approx 200 acres and provides a variety of walks.
