Saxtead Mill
The turning sails of windmills have been part of the local scene for over 800 years.
In 1830 no less than 17 could be seen from one vantage point near Ipswich.
Saxtead Mill is one of the finest examples of a traditional Suffolk post-mill. Dating from the late 18th century, the mill is open to the public and the sails still regularly turn in the wind providing an impressive sight across Saxtead Green.
