Snape Maltings
The world famous Concert Hall is home to the Aldeburgh Festival begun by Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears in 1948.
Alongside the concert hall are a collection of shops and galleries which make the maltings a visitor attraction throughout the year. Snape, on the River Alde, is one of the few survivors of the small ports that were once so numerous in coastal areas.
At high tide, 100 ton sailing barges can reach the quay, making Snape in its heyday, one of the largest quay's in East Anglia.
